Safiyya Farooq

Safiyya Farooq is a 24-year-old British Muslim digital artist whose practice explores faith, identity, and the evolving relationship between belief and creativity.

She has been drawing since primary school, developing imaginary worlds and character-based work long before she had formal training. After years of limited access to art education and creative spaces, university became a turning point, offering her the freedom to explore art more seriously and question what it could become in her life.

Her work reflects an ongoing process of questioning and healing, using digital painting as a space to process lived experience and personal faith. In Islam Through My Eyes, she presents a piece inspired by her sister’s journey with hijab and their shared struggle to understand Islam, using fragmented imagery to represent uncertainty, distance, and the gradual process of re-connection.

Through her practice, she reflects on imperfection, sincerity, and what it means to create while still figuring things out spiritually and personally.
