Raodah Ibrahim

Raodah Ibrahim is a Fine Art student whose practice moves between painting, Arabic calligraphy, and research-led visual storytelling.

Her journey began at GCSE Art and continued through formative gap years marked by uncertainty, experimentation, and gradual commitment to studying Fine Art at university. Alongside this, she has consistently been drawn to Arabic calligraphy and painting, learning over time to give space to that instinct rather than suppress it.

In Islam Through My Eyes, her work Punishment of Prosperity combines collage-like materials including wheat, water, fabric, tiles, and flowers to reflect the cultural richness of Al-Andalus, while chains and traces of blood reference exile, loss, and historical oppression. The work draws parallels between this history and the lived experiences of migrants and minorities today.

She also presents an abstract piece centred on a Qur’anic ayah, developed during a period of personal uncertainty about continuing as an artist. Her practice is shaped by research, reflection, and emotional state, with Arabic calligraphy approached as a form requiring care, intention, and reverence.
