Amina Patel
Amina Patel is a contemporary art student and multidisciplinary artist whose practice is shaped by her faith, lived experience, and research-based engagement with Palestine.
Her work draws from field visits to Palestine and reflects a focus on preserved architecture, community life, and beauty alongside narratives of loss. Working through sculpture and mixed media, she builds from primary observation and personal reflection rather than singular visual traditions.
As the only Asian Muslim woman on her course, Amina also reflects on navigating microaggressions, visibility, and the expectation of representing an entire identity within academic spaces. Her practice resists limiting Islamic art to a single form, instead opening it to broader material and conceptual expression.
Through her work, she explores intention, kindness, and quiet action as forms of expression that communicate values such as compassion, justice, and reflection, offering audiences a way to encounter Islamic perspectives through art and lived experience.
