Nadia Jainuddin
"Do more of what scares you. It might end up being what you love."
Nadia Jainuddin (b. 1991, Sheffield) is a doctor and contemporary artist raised in Tanzania, working in acrylic painting, abstract art, and Arabic calligraphy. Drawing on Islamic architecture, the landscapes of her upbringing along the Indian Ocean, and her faith, she creates paintings that explore spirituality, memory, and resilience through expressive colour and texture.
In Islam Through My Eyes, she presents Dome of the Rock, painted during the height of the ongoing massacre in Gaza in 2025. The work draws a parallel between the Dome and the Muslim experience in the West, particularly for women whose identity is worn publicly. Gold for hoped-for victory, blues for calm and the serenity of the sea: the painting is about visibility and the quiet perseverance it demands.
