Fatima Ruqayya

Fatima Ruqayya is a Bradford-based artist who returned to creative practice in 2020 after a pause during doctoral study, developing a body of work that combines Islamic calligraphy, textured painting, and personal reflection. For her, the act of painting is closely tied to remembrance, writing the Names of Allah and Quranic verse as a form of dhikr.

In Islam Through My Eyes, she presents Petals of Faith, part of her Patterns of Faith series, which imagines flowers, trees, and leaves as continuously glorifying Allah. Floral imagery, gold accents, and contrasts of light and dark express spiritual awakening and the quiet beauty of creation in a state of remembrance.
